“I educated my eye to seek and locate the light in this grand and magnificent city….At the end of this journey I discovered that my images are not only a declaration of love towards the city, but also towards the human race , in its splendid whole.”

Chervine

On Saturday 29 June at 6 p.m., the exhibition by the Iranian-French photographer Chervine Dalaeli ‘Twilight/Twinight, the solitude of Non-places’ will open its doors to the public. The mysterious faces of Chervine’s cities, among which New York stands out above all, are rendered naturally and poetically in light and colour. As the curator writes: “The individuals photographed in their vacuous wandering, entering and leaving buildings, at dusk and in the evening hours, seem to be an emanation of the city itself as it materialises. Silhouettes that pass through the light to become spots of colour on the stage of those non-places that are nothing more than streets, airports, public rest areas or overpasses where people meet without even looking at each other. “The exhibition pays homage to the French philosopher Marc Augé who passed away just a year ago. Chervine, who has an innate predisposition for poetry, great-grandson of the grand tradition of Persian lyric poetry, captured the poetic atmospheres of the city in his last stay in Portogruaro, where he was to set up his exhibition, whose conviviality of its citizens he greatly appreciated.
